Why hire a college advisor?
The college application process is an extremely overwhelming and confusing process. While public schools today have school counselors that are available to answer questions, today’s school counselors are rarely able to provide extensive, personalized support because of the vast number of additional responsibilities that they have. By hiring a college advisor you are gaining access to personalized attention from beginning to end of the college application season and are gaining additional insight to help you submit a well-crafted and intentional application while avoiding much of the stress.
What can I expect at our first meeting?
During our first consultation you can expect that we will begin by reviewing your high school records and discussing in detail what your expectations and goals are for post-graduation. Depending on where you are at in the college exploration and application process, we will then begin working together to reach those goals.
How many meetings are recommended?
The number of necessary meetings will vary for most students. A Freshman or Sophomore who is meeting with me for strategic high school and college planning will likely require fewer meetings than a Junior or Senior high school student who is receiving detailed assistance with each piece of the college application process. Because of this, Junior and Senior students have a 4-hour minimum, whereas Freshman and Sophomore students have a 2-hour minimum.
When should I start?
Each season of high school uniquely contributes to being a well-rounded college applicant. While the majority of students dive deep into the process during their Junior year of high school, most students would benefit from starting some preliminary preparation as early as their Freshman year.
How do you deliver services?
I am able to deliver my services both in-person and virtually depending on your preference and location. I am able to meet in-person with students located in the Mecklenburg and Union county areas of NC.
Do you offer any kind of guarantees about college acceptance?
No college advisor is able to provide a guaranteed acceptance into any university, but I can assure you that you will be submitting a more well-crafted and comprehensive application than you would have otherwise. I can also assure you that working with me will greatly reduce your stress about the whole application process. I will explain the confusing requirements and wording, provide a personalized timeline to ensure your applications are all submitted prior to deadlines, and will help break the process into smaller more manageable tasks.
